Using over half a million articles from The Guardian we show the change in the newspaper’s coverage of women within sections of the paper relating to the creative industries. The gender mix has improved substantially in recent years, though there are still some significant differences in the words associated with men and women. The data visualisations make novel use of text, and they show how open data and machine learning can shed new light on gender inequality.
