COVID-19 online memorial by Aleksey Novichkov
This experimental work I did in memory of the deceased inhabitants of Russia. The bars and curves of the standard graphs faintly reflect the drama of people's deaths. While searching for a visual metaphor, I was inspired by the image of a tsunami from a famous Japanese print by Katsushiki Hokusai. The online version automatically adapts to the monitor screen. The data is based on the Johns Hopkins University dataset and is updated every day. Separately marked are the dates of the drastic measures taken by the national government. These measures caused great harm to private business, but nothing was done about it afterwards when the statistics exceeded 1,000 a day.
