Opinion Library by Politecnico di Milano
Opinion Library is a project that continues and completes the research carried out for Sign here to fight the pandemic. The objective of the artifact is to expose part of the analysis carried out on the phenomenon of slacktivism on the online petition platform Change.org during the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to contribute to the understanding of the phenomenon and orienting possible reactions of the public. The project consists in a website that shows how the same language is used in different ways by users commenting on petitions in favour or against the mandatory use of masks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Through direct user interaction, the site will show how certain words are used concurrently by the two identified groups, while also exposing the library of comments on which the analysis was conducted. In this way it will be possible to have an immediate comparison of the vocabulary that users use to express their position within the debate, which is not possible to see directly on Change.org.
