The Matilda Effect by Kim Ly Scott

This visualisation was built in honour of Women’s History Month this year. Women and their achievements have often been ignored, particularly, in science.

We see evidence of The Matilda Effect - the effect used to describe bias against the achievements of women scientists in favour of their male colleagues - throughout history. With this viz, I wanted to shed light on the Matilda Effect, and honour the achievements of some brilliant women scientists.
