Precision mapping to end child deaths by Insitute for Health Metric

The annual number of deaths of children under 5 years of age around the globe decreased from 19.6 million in 1950 to 5.4 million in 2017, a change of nearly 72%! Undoubtedly the decrease in child mortality rates is an incredible feat that deserves attention. Helping children survive and thrive is one of the most important global goals for health and development. Disparities in the rate of decline between regions offer opportunities for future progress. This data story focuses on the disparities in the decline in child mortality rates. By shedding light on  areas with lagging rates, to achieve more significant health equity the globe can direct resources to these underdeveloped locations to achieve more significant health equity.
