When Business Intelligence meets philanthropy by ventriloc

On June 15, the 30th edition of the Collège de Lévis Foundation Golf Tournament took place. An event that brought together 160 golfers, most of them Collège de Lévis alumni. The tournament raised more than $65,000 which will help present and future students gain access to this renowned institution. Ventriloc had the opportunity to participate as a partner in this event.

As experts in data valorization, ventriloc took on the challenge of collecting golf data from the tournament and sharing the resulting statistics with golfers. Analytics is now ubiquitous on the professional golf circuit, but there’s nothing stopping us from having fun analyzing swings at a charity tournament.

Ventriloc equipped itself with a Garmin R10 momentum sensor. Well installed at the teeing ground of hole #3 of the Golf de Lévis, we captured all the tee shots of the golfers who passed. In addition, we offered them a very simple little contest: Estimate your hitting distance (carry) before hitting and those who obtained a real distance, calculated by the sensor, at +/- 20 yards, were eligible for the post-tournament draw.
