Homage to Sanzo Wada | Colour Visualisation Print Series by EESUR

After being given a Father's Day gift of the book A Dictionary of Color Combinations and several months of visual exploration, I created this series of fine art giclee prints celebrating Sanzo Wada's work with colour in Japan from the 1930s.

Data is derived from the colour names and values alongside the combinations and separation of volumes per the book. Bespoke visualisations using D3js and the Observable platform were used to make new visual ways to interact with the colours—code and experiments shared and made reusable via the computational notebooks. Designs have been refined and ready for print in Adobe Illustrator using a fully RGB process.

The fine art prints provide views that complement and work alongside the book, encouraging new ways to interact and see the colours and their relationships.
