Communicating in color by Axios
The British royal family has mastered the art of visual communication, especially through their clothing choices. Prominent women of the family - Princess Diana; Queen Elizabeth; Catherine, Princess of Wales; and Queen Consort Camilla - have historically used the color of their clothing to communicate what they may not want to say aloud.
This piece looks at hundreds of outfits worn by these women to uncover trends in the colors they wear. From Queen Elizabeth’s use of bright colors to show her control of the situation to Diana’s famous black Revenge Dress, we analyze what they were saying through what they were wearing.
