Progress for women? by Ellen O'Neill
A data visualisation produced for International Women's Day 2023 highlighting the underrepresentation of women in the world's national parliaments across a 10 year period from 2012 to 2021.
Taking inspiration from the UK suffrage movement active during the early 20th century, the central design is that of a purple and green rosette - a modernised interpretation of those handed out by Emmeline and Sylvia Pankhurst during their landmark “Votes for Women” campaign. This serves as a subtle but important reminder that despite the achingly slow progress of the last decade, we will continue to fight for gender parity.
