Hidden Incidents of Pet Food: Pentobarbital Secondary Poisoning by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Pentobarbital is frequently utilized for euthanasia. Unexpectedly, it has also led to a series of events related to secondary poisoning across multiple species because of its challenging decomposition process. This art project represents the historical incidents of animals affected by pentobarbital secondary poisoning. The authors' work combines real incident data, 3D tree structure visualization, and AI-generated content to reveal the hidden impact of the artificial euthanasia drug, pentobarbital. The authors demonstrate the increasing and ongoing neglected pentobarbital secondary poisoning history from 1967 till now and aim to raise public attention to the abuse of pentobarbital through this art project.
