The Falllen Chimes by National Institute of Design(NID Bengaluru)
Ninety-nine per cent of people in the world live in places where the air is considered unhealthy.Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and other pollutants in the air quietly harm our bodies, leading to chronic illnesses like heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer. This slow decline in health shortens lives, affecting millions of people and cutting them off from precious years they could have lived.
This visualisation compares death rate due to household air pollution as well as ambient air pollution per lakh population of 15 countries.
The project brings data to life in a physical form, making it easier to connect with and understand.
By giving data a tangible presence, it becomes more meaningful and accessible, offering an experience that goes beyond what digital screens can offer.
