Celebrating Daily Joys: Finding Love in Everyday Life by Qingyue Li

An unusual interactive visual exploration of self-love and small joys in everyday life, blending personal data, storytelling, and art. This project began with an Instagram account created by Ted and me to document our daily joyful moments, turning data collection into a form of art and joy. Then, I use the dataset part I collected for this interactive piece.

When we talk about love, we often think about romantic connections or the ties between a parent and child. However, love, in its expansive nature, is much more than that. In a world that's getting busier and more chaotic, understanding ourselves better and learning how to love ourselves is more important than ever.

Moving from Beijing to the U.S. to pursue my dream in design marked the beginning of my journey to learn to truly take care of myself, trust myself, and discover what makes me smile.

When I close my eyes and think about 'love,' my first thoughts are the warm feeling of the sun, video chatting with my parents, and the happiness derived from all the small moments in my regular daily life.

I hope this piece will also inspire you to think about the small joys and self-love moments in your own life.
