Choked Ocean Plastics by Nid

Every minute, across the globe, eager hands purchase a staggering one million plastic bottles. Annually, up to five trillion plastic bags rustle in the wind, filling shopping carts and homes.

Remarkably, half of the plastic we produce is fleeting, serving its purpose just once before being discarded. Much of this discarded waste travels the arteries of our planet – the rivers – spilling their burden into serene lakes and vast oceans.

But plastic has a haunting persistence. Rather than vanishing, it fragments into almost imperceptible micro plastics. These minuscule invaders find their way into our bodies, lodging in our organs as they are inhaled, absorbed, and even passed onto newborns, as a recent study chillingly revealed traces of them in placentas.

The objective of "Project Choked Ocean Plastics" is to illustrate the journey of plastics and how they end up in critical locations, leading to blockages in various organisms.
