Swiss Mountains · Schweizer Bergwelten · Montagnes suisses by Fabian Lang
For three years I have been at a treasure hunt for extraordinary data, information and imagery throughout the Swiss mountains, archives and open source catalogues.
With the profound help from experts and scientists in fields of climatology, cartography, glaciology etc. I translated all that stunning data into visual stories for everyone.
The result is a 200-page strong book featuring images, infographics and data visualisations that tell the story of the bearded vultures following their GPS data (via Paris to the Netherlands) or the history and future of the alps biggest glaciers. The book undertakes an investigation of the mountain flora and fauna based on the sightings of 30 000 contributors. Also: human-wolf coexistence, climate change, gender (in)equality, energy transition, Swiss cartography and the most popular surnames throughout the elevations levels.
