QEdu Youth and Work Platform by FIB Fábrica de Ideias Brasileiras em Design LTDA
The Roberto Marinho Foundation and QEdu, in partnership with Itaú Educação e Trabalho, tasked us with developing a platform to consolidate a broad set of indicators about different groups of Brazilian youth, their education, and entry into the workforce. The project included designing the visual identity, illustrations, interface, and implementing the platform while incorporating elements of the visual identities of the partner institutions.
The platform features interactive charts with filters that allow users to view, compare indicators, and generate insights from the data. The interface was designed with the user in mind, making navigation super smooth and easy, even on long pages filled with visuals and charts. To achieve this, a fixed top menu was implemented, showing the current chart, selected filters, and providing quick access to other available visualizations. Additionally, the filters you set up work across all the charts on the page, keeping the experience seamless and hassle-free.
Illustrations play a central role in the visual system, functioning as icons in infographics and highlights accompanying charts, making the tool more visually interesting and helping users understand key concepts. On top of this, specific infographics were created to show the struggles faced by youth with disabilities, and Black and Indigenous youth, promoting a careful and inclusive approach.
The platform's primary goal is to make it easier to access, view, and share essential information about Brazilian youth, helping various social groups make informed decisions. What used to be fragmented data is now presented in a clear, organized, and focused way, allowing for deeper analysis of inequalities in education and the labor market.
This tool is highly relevant for both researchers and the general public, as it democratizes access to indicators and evidence, enhancing the debate and guiding the creation of public policies and initiatives in education and labor for youth. Another standout feature of the platform is the ability to turn charts into images that can be shared on social media, helping spread trustworthy information in an organic way.
