The XXVIII Compasso d’Oro Award cycle presents the excellence of Italian design, a prestigious selection of projects curated by ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) and structured across three years and three catalogues: ADI Design Index 2022, ADI Design Index 2023 and the final XXVIII Compasso d’Oro Award.

The concept for this cycle is the "Design Cosmos", a circular infographic of the Italian design selection that functions as data visualization of all projects as well as evocative book covers.

Each selected project is represented as a dot within a compass-like chart, arranged by category and region. This innovative approach transforms a traditional index into a dynamic and circular visual system, which is not only functional but also deeply engaging. It offers readers an intuitive way to navigate the contents of the catalog while celebrating the richness and diversity of Italian design.

The infographic system extends seamlessly from the covers to the interior pages. In the first two volumes, the covers highlight the projects included in that specific year, while each project’s location in the Cosmos is subtly echoed in the internal pages, with a flip book effect. The result is a clear and fun-to-navigate experience.

The Design Cosmos celebrates the full spectrum of design excellence, ensuring equal visibility for projects from different categories and regions of Italy. This approach not only facilitates a deeper exploration of the diversity within Italian creativity but also lays the groundwork for new insights and future developments.
