Diary of Emotions by Natalia Kiseleva

During challenging times, I started recording daily emotions on a psychologist's advice, wondering if they could be visualized. I encoded emotions with colors: intense emotions had saturated hues, and I grouped them into Positive (green), Negative (red), Warm (orange), and Cold (blue). "Cold" captured productivity and anxiety, reflecting emotional ambiguity.

The complexity of my data reflects the nuances of feelings—it wasn’t about rigid categories but expressing my emotional states freely. Over time, I added a bar chart legend, showing the frequency of each emotion per month, creating a colorful, striped visualization.

Simultaneously, I kept a doodle calendar, drawing small images daily. Eventually, I merged the two projects, overlaying emotional data with illustrations. This union revealed that even on tough days, small creative acts like doodling brought positivity and meaning.

This project underscores the importance of emotional awareness, showing that reflection and creativity can anchor us during crises. I hope it inspires others to explore their emotions and seek support when needed.
