NBA Scorigami by Alexander Varlamov
The term "Scorigami" is typically used in relation to the NFL and refers to the occurrence of a unique, previously unseen score. To display all combinations of unique scores, a matrix is constructed.
The "NBA Scorigami" visualization shows unique scores in NBA basketball games from 1946 to 2024. You can compare Home/Visitor scores or simply view unique scores, as in classic Scorigami. Each shaded square indicates that a specific score has been observed before, with the color representing the frequency of that score's occurrence. Additionally, there are time series graphs of scores and the accumulation of unique scores. Dropdown windows display the last 10 games with the selected score.
Furthermore, the visualization includes several filters that allow you to filter data by teams, seasons, and other categories. There is also a control that lets you view how the diagram fills in over the years.
In summary, the diagram provides an understanding of the score range in various NBA games. You can study outliers, which represent unique games, or identify the most frequent scores. It also allows you to explore game histories and diagrams for your favorite NBA team.
