Atelierdatasheet — Rethinking Spreadsheets as a Design Medium

Atelierdatasheet transforms Google Sheets into a visually compelling and interactive platform for data storytelling, challenging the conventional perception of spreadsheets as purely functional. The project critically examines facial recognition technology (FRT) through open-source intelligence, data visualization, and artistic exploration, making complex information accessible and engaging.

By leveraging the aesthetic and structural possibilities of spreadsheets, Atelierdatasheet bridges the gap between analytical depth and artistic expression. The result is a hybrid between data report and digital artwork, offering a fresh perspective on how design can foster public discourse and critical engagement with AI technologies.

Atelierdatasheet was created in 2024 as the M.A. project of Ha Thanh Thu Nguyen, developed in the Visual Communication program (Information Design, Prof. David Skopec) at the Berlin University of the Arts.
