Unheard Voices: India's Hidden War on Women by NMIMS School of Design
"Unheard Voices: India's Hidden War on Women" highlights the alarming reality of sexual violence in India from 2001 to 2010. Through this visualization, I aimed to demonstrate that behind every statistic is a real person - someone's daughter, sister, or mother. The design features strands of hair flowing across the page to represent different age groups of victims, making these numbers feel more human and tangible. At the top, a semi-circle timeline illustrates how cases increased over the decade, while state-wise data uncovers which regions reported the highest numbers. The deep red color scheme was not merely an aesthetic choice - it signifies the severity of this crisis. I opted to present the data in this manner because traditional graphs and charts often make us forget that we're discussing real individuals. When you observe the strands of hair or the silhouette figure, you're reminded that each number represents a woman whose voice must be heard. This isn't solely about statistics - it's about grasping a crisis that impacts thousands of women and girls across India.
