Drug Combination Guide by Max Planck School of Cognition
This is the third piece in a triptych of three titled MAD (Music-Astronomy-Drugs). There is a shared musical, celestial, and psychedelic quality to all three pieces. Here I depict the safety (or the danger) a wide variety of combinations of recreational substances using a categorical matrix cut along the diagonal to remove redundant combinatorial information. The stained glass visual motif is inspired by a famous Berlin club, where the habits of fellow patrons helped me realize the utility of such a chart. The short textual Methods section included with the piece provides more details on the data sources and creative process.
