Routes of Riches by NID

The intention of this project is to choose a relevant and interesting story and narrate it using maps, through a combination of storytelling, cartography and visual design.

This project explores the Spice Trade, a historic global exchange of spices like pepper, cinnamon, and cloves, which spanned Asia to the Mediterranean. It highlights how the demand for spices fueled exploration, shaped trade routes, and fostered cultural interactions, influencing global economies and politics across centuries.
