Biocubes by Johns Hopkins University

Biocubes.net presents a visual inventory of the living and the built on the planet. It compares the mass of all natural, living organisms (biomass) with that of human-made materials (technomass). The project highlights how the balance between the natural world and human infrastructures has dramatically changed during the past few decades.

By bridging science, data, and visualization, Biocubes.net offers a unique perspective on one of the defining characteristics of the Anthropocene—the era of human influence on the planet.
