Accelerating the Dairy Cold Chain’s Transition to Renewable Energy in India by Revisual Labs
Through compelling data visualisation and interactive storytelling, this digital story breaks down an often-overlooked environmental challenge: the massive carbon footprint of India's dairy cold chain. As the world's largest milk producer, India's path to sustainability is crucial. The narrative follows WWF India's collaboration with dairy cooperatives across the country to cut down on the dairy cold chain’s carbon footprint by employing solar-powered instant milk chillers.
The story weaves together data visualisations and thoughtful illustrations to guide readers through the complexities of India's milk value chain. As the reader scrolls, they journey alongside milk's path from farm to fridge in India. Data-driven graphics illuminate real-world impact, featuring actual electricity bills from sites before and after installing solar-powered chillers - showing firsthand the transformative potential of renewable energy solutions. The journey ends with an interactive calculator that lets readers explore the scale of impact when you solarize the dairy cold chain - from reduced energy costs to decreased carbon emissions.
Our process involved starting with the data — paying heed to the numbers and crafting the ideal narrative, followed by visual explorations to transform tens of reports and presentations into graphics that were easy and delightful to observe. Through skilful development, our team drove home this piece that transforms complex environmental and technical concepts into an immersive story about sustainable innovation in India's dairy industry.
