Data Dart: Where data meets debate by Council on Energy, Environment and Water

4 questions. 5 options. For everyone in the room.

Data Dart is an interactive, mobile, dartboard-style polling activity that invites every participant—not just panelists or speakers—to make their voices heard. The dartboard has four quadrants, each posing a question. Attendees to the event can place thumb pins on a scale from ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree’. What starts as an empty board becomes a crowd-sourced visualisation of opinions, built collectively in real-time. An integration of information design with event experiences, Data Dart makes opinions visible, starts conversations, and turns passive attendees into active contributors.

In the last year, we’ve taken Data Dart to public fairs and conference rooms across three Indian states and heard from scientists, farmers, and economists alike. We've polled everything — from rooftop solar adoption to millet consumption, from young India’s vision for 2047 to the country’s engagement with climate content. We’ve gathered responses in Hindi, English, and Punjabi, using data storytelling to not only tell stories but also hear them.
