Open Source Makes Money by Sapienza University of Rome

Open Source Makes Money is a data visualization project where we showcase the market domination of open source Linux-based mobile operating systems.

For this project, we have examined the market share of operating system families and turned these into a chronological area chart and two comparative alluvial graphs. An open source typeface called Open Font has been created for this specific project. The entire infographic has been designed using the glyphs of Open Font. Following the subject, we created an AR experience that looks like retro computer screens to give another layer of detailed information on Android, Google, and Linux.
