Our judges represent a mix of data visualization experts from different domains, countries, and languages. Directors, researchers, visual journalists, developers, founders, designers, and engineers, are some of the roles represented in our panel. This year, our panel is made of 80+ judges who will lend their expertise and experience to evaluate this year’s submissions.

	Alice Feng	Data Visualization Designer and Teacher	Alice is passionate about making data more inclusive and accessible. She co-authored the Do No Harm Guide series and has worked with the Urban Institute and UNDP.
	Amanda Makulec	Data Visualization Designer	Health data visualization designer and teacher, who has worked with clients across sectors in more than a dozen countries over the last 15 years to help make data more meaningful. Data Visualization Society founding board member, serving as Executive Director (2021-2024) and Operations Director (2019-2020). Author of Viz Responsibly (Substack) and co-host of Chart Chat.
	Amanda Ward	Product Manager	Amanda is a technology and data science professional with over fifteen years of experience in consulting and analyst roles both Internationally and local in Australia with some of Australia's leading telecommunications providers. She is passionate about solving problems with data, evangelizing Big Data’s business case, data visualization and storytelling, and machine learning technologies.
	Amy Cesal	Freelance Information Designer and Data Viz Strategist	Amy Cesal co-founded the Data Visualization Society and serves on the advisory council. Her unusual data visualization work garnered her three IIBs. Amy holds a Master's Degree from MICA, where she teaches in the Data Analytics and Visualization master's program. She is a leader in the use and creation of data visualizations style guidelines.
	Andrea Nilsson	Communication Officer	Andrea Nilsson is a communication expert with 18 years of experience in media relations, data-driven storytelling, and high-impact public health campaigns. She currently works as communication officer at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. She has also had roles at the Gapminder Foundation and the Stockholm School of Economics, amongst others.
	Anne-Marie Dufour	Data Visualization Designer and Developer	Anne-Marie Dufour is a front-end developer specialized in data visualization design and development. Nowadays, she builds data visualization tools for power engineers and fun scrollytelling projects. She also teaches and authored the 3rd edition of D3.js in Action.
	Avinash Gadala	Johns Hopkins Medicine Director of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control(HEIC) IT Operations & Analytics	Avinash Gadala, Ph.D., a Microsoft-certified expert, has 18+ years in IT and analytics, specializing in clinical analytics, biomedical informatics, and database engineering. As Director of HEIC IT & Analytics at Johns Hopkins, he leads data-driven strategies for infection control. He excels in healthcare data management, system architecture, and has 30+ clinical publications.
	Ben Spraggon	Designer and Visual Storyteller	Ben is a designer working for ABC News Digital (Australian Broadcasting Corporation). Hi focus is on providing insight and essential visual context in memorable and, hopefully, delightful ways. Ben has won several Information is Beautiful awards over the years and in 2019 my colleagues and has collectively won the Outstanding Studio award.
	Carlos A. del Alamo Alonso	Global Content Analytics Senior Manager	Executive with more than 20 years of experience in several industries with a deep focus on Digital Transformation. Specialized in Data Analytics and Visualization, Information Systems management and Digital product management.
	Carmen Yue	Data Integration Manager	An experienced public health leader passionate about connecting data to value through innovative data analytics and effective data visualization. Her areas of expertise include epidemiology, quality improvement and operational performance measurement.
	Charlotte Cabane	Data Experience Expert	Charlotte graduated with a Ph.D. in economics from University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2011 and she also holds a master's degree in economics from Paris School of Economics. Afterwards she served as a postdoctoral researcher and then assistant professor at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Her areas of expertise are data visualization and analytics. Charlotte has been with the team since 2016.
	Cooper Thomas	Cartography Content Strategist, StoryMaps	Cooper is an award-winning cartographer on Esri’s StoryMaps team. By day, he produces map-based stories and storytelling resources that aim to inform, entertain, and inspire. By night, he is typically asleep.
	Danielle Alberti	Managing Editor, Data Visuals	Danielle is the managing editor for data visualization at Axios and a former Web developer at Pew Research Center. Based in Arlington, Virginia, Danielle has a passion for birds, museums, quilting, and the intersection of data visualization and textile art.
	Daria Voronova	Data Viz Expert	With 7+ years of experience, Daria drives business impact through data visualization, BI, and analytics. She has helped clients from Fortune 500 companies transition from gut-driven decisions to analytics-led strategies. As a community leader and mentor, Daria shares practical methods, including leveraging AI, reaching over 85K users through educational publications.
	Diana Marques	Graphic Editor	For over 20 years Diana Marques has been creating illustrations, animations, and information graphics, for museums, publishers, and researchers. At National Geographic, she makes graphics for the magazine's print and digital platforms and leads the production team that ensures maps and graphics meet precise print production standards.
	Dianaid Ramirez	Director of Cybersecurity Data Analytics	Strategic leader in data analytics and cybersecurity with more than 15 years of experience in leading diverse global and regional companies across the manufacturing, banking and contact center companies. Certified as a Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate, I have extensive knowledge of ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR and NIST SP 800-53.
	Dominikus Baur	Data Visualization Designer & Developer	Dominikus is an award-winning frontend- and data visualization designer + developer– creating highly performant, beautiful and usable interactive web applications, apps and touchscreen installations. He has speaking experience at international conferences, as trainer for data visualization and web development and a strong scientific background with excellent research and teaching skills.
	Donia Badawood	Data Visualization Designer & Developer	Donia Badawood is an Assistant Professor of Computer and Data Science at Umm Al-Qura University. She holds a Master’s and Ph.D. from City, University of London. Her interests include data science, data visualization, and academic accreditation. She previously served as Vice Dean of IT and Vice Director of the Engineering and Computer Science Research Center at Umm Al-Qura University.
	Dr. Mennatullah Hendawy	Interdisciplinary Urban Planner	Dr. Mennatullah Hendawy is an interdisciplinary urban planner working at the intersections of cities, media, and technology toward equity and sustainability. She is an assistant professor at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and is also affiliated with the Technical University of Munich, and Impact Circles e.V., and the Center for Advanced Internet Studies in Germany, and the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Unites States of America. Hendawy received her Ph.D. in 2021 from the Faculty of Planning, Building Environment at TU Berlin in Germany, graded summa cum laude. In her dissertation, she explored the mediatization (and visualization) of urban development in Cairo as a local yet global case. In 2015, Hendawy completed an MSc in Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design from Stuttgart University, focusing on urban policies. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Department of Urban Planning and Design, class of 2012.
	Eli Holder	Principal, 3iap	Eli Holder is a data designer, researcher, and leading expert on equitable information design. His practice, "3 is a pattern" (3iap.com), specializes in fair analysis and persuasive visualization, partnering with civically engaged clients to tell compelling data stories about public health, education, and social impact.
	Emily Borawski	Senior Research Scientist, HumRRO	Emily Borawski is a senior research scientist at HumRRO. She is enthusiastic about making complex data and information accessible and engaging for various audiences by crafting compelling narratives and data visualizations. She believes that data has the potential to tell impactful stories that can bring about meaningful change.
	Emily Pearsall	Art Director	Emily is an Art Director specializing in Visual Design and Brand Marketing. With over a decade of experience, she excels in leading creative initiatives and driving brand success. Leveraging her background in illustration and advertising, Emily strives to marry modern design sensibilities with unique storytelling.
	Fen Westphal	Data Manager	Fen Westphal, born in China, went to Europe for education and received Master Degree in Business Administration. Then she moved to United States and worked at universities and non-profit organizations. She currently works as Data Manager at Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission in California.
	Giuseppe Sollazzo	Author, Quantum of Sollazzo data newsletter	Giuseppe Sollazzo is a data geek. While working as a senior data leader within the UK Government and public health sector, he has been sending the data newsletter "Quantum of Sollazzo" for over 10 years, launching data-driven projects and data visualizations, and advocating for Open Data.
	Gulrez Khan	Data Science Leader,  Award-Winning Author	Gulrez Khan is a proud father of 3 beautiful kids and award-winning author of Drawing Data with Kids. By day, he works as a Data Science leader, and by night, he reads bedtime stories to my kids. Sometimes, the roles overlap—you'll find him storytelling in conferences or teaching data concepts to the kids.
	Harsha Devulapalli	Graphics Reporter, San Francisco Chronicle	Harsha Devulapalli is a graphics reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, with a diverse background as a researcher, geographer, urban designer, developer and product manager. He is passionate about cities, maps, transit, languages, typography and history.
	Hemal Sheth	Manager, Data Visualization and Design	Being specialized in Data visualization and Information design, I like to engage the readers, business users by creating interactive data-story designs, user interface designs for data product dashboards. In designing, I follow the Human Centered Design approach that helps users take right decisions while interacting with the data.
	Holf Yuen	Data Insights Analyst	Career changer to data science and analytics after 10+ years in finance. Power BI power user and also works with Python, SQL and Tableau. A Hong Konger living in London
	Huiwon Lim	Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Penn State	Huiwon Lim, an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Penn State, holds an MFA in Graphic Design, an MA in Environmental Graphic Design, and a graduate certificate in HCI from Iowa State. His research explores data visualization to enhance community engagement, user experience, human wellness, and sustainability awareness.
	Huseyin Kuscu	Director of Kakare Interactive	A digital producer, multimedia developer, and educator with over 15 years of experience in interactive design. Founder of Kakare Interactive, he has led award-winning projects for top institutions. He teaches and mentors in VR/AR, consults organizations, and explores new technologies in digital media, interaction, and immersive experiences.
	Irene Alisjahbana	ML Researcher & Design Lecturer	Irene Alisjahbana is a machine learning researcher, data visualization educator, and AI enthusiast. She teaches data storytelling and design thinking at Stanford’s d.school and works in industry applying AI and NLP at scale. Passionate about creative computing, she founded dataandbooks, blending literature and technology into engaging visual narratives.
	Jacque Schrag	Associate Editor of Visual Journalism at Axios	Jacque Schrag is an associate editor of visual journalism at Axios, specializing in data visualization and newsroom engineering. Previously she worked at the CSIS’ award-winning iDeas Lab. Her work has been featured in the Information is Beautiful Awards, The Nightingale, and more.
	Jamie Waese	Design Director, Uncharted Software	I am a data visualization designer and UX team leader from Toronto, Canada, specializing in customer facing, enterprise and data-rich applications. I have a PhD in data visualization and an MFA in film producing. I bring both of these experiences together to build complex products that are delightful and easy to use.
	Jan Willem Tulp	Datavizioneer	Jan Willem Tulp (TULP interactive) is an independent Datavizioneer from The Netherlands. He enjoys crafting creative data visualizations that tell stories, reveal insights or show novel ways to engage an audience. He has over 14 years of experience working for a wide variety of national and international clients.
	Jiayan He	Graphic Designer	Jiayan He is a New York-based graphic designer specializing in data visualization, editorial, branding and illustration. She is a Graphic Design Specialist at UNICEF. As an award-winning creative, Jiayan has served as a jury member for multiple design competitions.
	Joey Cherdarchuk	Interactive Information Designer - Obumbratta	Freelance information and interface designer whose 'Data Looks Better Naked' series of animated gifs is used in many data visualization curricula. His Thunder Roads interactive won gold at the Information is Beautiful Awards.
	Jon Schwabish	Senior Fellow	Dr. Schwabish is an economist at the Urban Institute where he researches programs that support low-income communities. In addition to that work, he is a writer, teacher, and a leading voice for clarity and accessibility in how researchers communicate their data and analysis
	Joshua Lee	Senior Product Designer	Joshua is a product designer specializing in data visualization, crafting intuitive experiences that turn complexity into actionable insights. His expertise spans mobile consumer apps, design systems, and enterprise tools. Currently a Senior Product Designer at Robinhood, and formerly at Uber, he leverages his multidisciplinary background in graphic design and software development to tackle complex challenges.
	Joumana Ibrahim	Design Educator/ Graphic Designer	Joumana is an award-winning Arab-Canadian graphic designer with extensive experience working with regional and international clients on design research, graphic design, and information design projects. She has also spent fifteen years as a design educator, teaching in Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, she is a faculty member in the Visual Design department at Istituto Marangoni in Dubai. Alongside her academic career, Joumana has led and published design research projects, facilitated workshops at local and regional levels, and participated in international juries.
	Juliana Galvis	Political Scientist	Political scientist with a Master's in Digital Humanities. Currently Project Director at Datasketch. I have more than seven years of experience leading and executing data-driven projects at the intersection of technology, human rights, and digital governance across Latin America and the world. Passionate about using data and information technologies to promote gender equality.
	Juliana Smith	Chartered IT Professional	Juliana Smith, an award-winning IT Chartered professional, has 15+ years of global tech experience. Specialising in data visualisation and analytics, she turns data into impactful insights. A NorthWest Women in STEM board member, STEM ambassador, and digital accessibility advocate, she champions inclusive technology and promotes gender equality in STEM.
	Junxia Lin	Senior Information Sciences Professional	Junxia Lin is a Senior Information Sciences Professional at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He develops AI and machine learning tools to uncover genetic and molecular disease insights. Previously, he was a data programmer in management consulting, supporting the Global Health Supply Chain project.
	Kalp Patel	Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Amazon	Kalp is an analytics professional specializing in data-driven solutions, visualization, and decision-making. With experience in Amazon’s Last Mile operations, he excels in data modeling and reporting. Passionate about data literacy, he actively supports the visualization community and fosters collaboration to drive impactful projects.
	Kuhu Gupta	Data Visualization Engineer	Kuhu Gupta, a Data Visualization Engineer at the cybersecurity company Illumio, specializes in crafting intuitive visualizations that transform complex security data into actionable insights. Her work empowers users to analyze network traffic, uncover hidden threats, and make data-driven decisions, bridging the gap between sophisticated cybersecurity data and user understanding.
	Laura Castro Soto	Information & Product Designer	Laura Castro is an Information & Product Designer based in Zurich, specializing in data visualization and UX/UI design. With over 10 years of experience, she helps transform complex information into engaging visual narratives. She holds a Master’s in Infographics and Data Visualization from BAU University in Spain.
	Lisa Waananen Jones	Associate Professor	Lisa Waananen Jones is an associate professor of practice at The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, where she teaches visual communication and multimedia design. She works in data journalism and graphics with The New York Times and local news organizations. .
	Luciana Junqueira	Information Designer	Luciana Junqueira is a Strategic Designer and Data Visualization Specialist with an MS in Communication Design and an MBA in Knowledge Management and BI. As a consultant, she has led AI initiatives for Fortune 500 companies, blending creative insight with analytics to drive innovation. She also pioneered a cultural engagement survey.
	Marco Giannini	Designer, journalist	I’m an information designer, data and visual journalist, and founder of Dataspoiler. Throughout my career, I’ve contributed to a wide array of design projects, working over 20 years in newsrooms, serving diverse audiences, and honing my skills across a multitude of platforms. My experience encompasses the publication of numerous books, and participation in various projects involving dataviz, stretching from educational to visual design, to motion and interactive design, to design for exhibit.
	Matteo Bonera	Creative Director	Matteo is the Creative Director of The Visual Agency, an award-winning information design agency based in Milan. Since 2015 he has been a professor at Politecnico di Milano and since 2020 a Consultant in knowledge visualization for the European Commission. In 2023 he created Land Music: the largest data-sonification concert
	Max Gadney	Designer	Max is a designer. He started at BBC News Online, ran After the Flood, and has always worked with data and information.
	Mercy Maigut	Sr. Data Analyst	Mercy is a Senior Data Analyst who specializes in transforming data into insights using low-code/no-code solutions across industries like construction and healthcare. As Co-Director of Coding and Cupcakes at KCWiT, Mercy empowers women in tech. She is excited to judge the IIB Awards and celebrate innovation in data analytics! 	Moritz Stefaner	Independent Designer	Moritz Stefaner is an independent designer specializing in data visualization. With a background in Cognitive Science and Interface Design, he never ceases to amaze with novel and effective forms to convey information. He is also the co-host of the Data Stories podcast and a sought-after keynote speaker.
	Nancy Organ	Designer & Educator	Nancy is the data visualization lead at the healthcare analytics company called Trilliant Health, and in past lives she worked in medical research, education, and tech. Her recent book, Data Visualization for People of All Ages, was published last year.
	Neil Richards	Author, blogger and Tableau Visionary Hall of Fame	Neil is author of Questions in Dataviz and hosts a blog with the same name. He is a former Data Visualization Society Director and a Hall of Fame Tableau Visionary, and currently works as a Global Data Fluency Lead at JLL
	Nicolle Herrera	Multidisciplinary Creative	Nicolle Herrera (also known as "nikkirev") is from Colombia and is a Multidisciplinary Creative and Founder at "nikkirev studio". Nicolle builds worlds and storytelling for brands using different techniques, such as: 3D/2D/Concept art, animation, motion, illustration, character design, identity design, creative direction, brand strategy and digital design.
	Nihanth Cheurkuru	Head of Visualization Services and Research	Nihanth is a Project Scientist at NSF NCAR, leading the Visualization Services and Research Group in CISL. He specializes in data visualization, UX research, and open-source software development. His work focuses on improving 3D visualization tools like VAPOR, enhancing user engagement, and advancing web technologies for scientific exploration and communication.
	Nikita Rokotyan	Data Vis Engineer & Designer, Founder of Interacta	Nikita is an award-winning visualization engineer and designer, known for creating multiple open-source data tools. As the founder of Interacta, a data visualization studio, Nikita leads a multidisciplinary team of developers, scientists, and designers to craft elegant, functional tools for exploring and understanding data.
	Noah Iliinsky	Information Designer	Noah Iliinsky has been researching and teaching data visualization and UX process and best practices for 20 years. He has written or edited six data visualization books, and designed Amazon QuickSight. He has a master's in Technical Communication from UW, and a bachelor's in physics from Reed College.
	Onur Yoruk	Manager, Data Visualization	Trained in Computer Science and Computational Biology. Worked in Pharmaceutical industry as a data scientist, before transitioning to data visualization in non-profit space.
	Pei Ying Loh	Head & Co-Founder, Kontinentalist	Peiying Loh runs Kontinentalist, the award-winning studio that nurtures community around data and human experiences with an Asian centred focus. She also recently completed an MSc in Data, Inequality and Society at the University of Edinburgh's Futures Institute.
	Qingyue Li	Product Designer	Qingyue is a Seattle-based, award-winning designer who specializes in UX and data visualization. She won the World Data Visualization Contest in 2023. With over five years of experience in B2B product design, she specializes in data visualization and data-driven product design. Currently, Qingyue works as a product designer at Esri, where she is deeply passionate about crafting compelling data narratives and storytelling. When she is not working, she regularly speaks at international design and data visualization conferences as a speaker and panelist and conducts workshops.
	Rekha Jayalakshmi	Senior Marketing Data Analyst	Analytics professional with 7 years of experience in Business Analytics with a double Master's in Analytics. Worked on the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for Marketing Operations and other teams.
	Rodolfo Almeida	Freelance information designer and visual journalism editor at Nucleo	Rodolfo Almeida is a freelance information designer and researcher based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He's currently a visual journalism editor at Nucleo, an independent news outlet investigating Big Tech. He holds a graduate degree in Journalism from PUC-SP and a Masters degree in design from UFRJ.
	Sagar Mohite	Staff Engineer, Data Visualization, Datadog	Sagar Mohite has spent over a decade building bespoke data visualizations for the industry, exploring the sample space of product design, computational art, interactive storytelling, and cartography. Currently a Staff Engineer at Datadog, he works on building renderers and designing product experiences for observability.
	Samia Naciri	Data Architect	With a Ph.D. in Decision Support Systems and over 20 years of experience, I am passionate about using data analysis, BI, and data visualization to uncover insights that drive business growth. I have successfully worked with business owners and operational teams to meet expectations and deliver actionable insights within agile environments. My expertise includes the implementation, integration, and deployment of digital and decision support systems, with a focus on leveraging IT skills for key business growth levers in sales and marketing. I am continually expanding my research to discover innovative methods for answering critical business questions.
	Sara Holcombe	Director of Experience Design	Sara Holcombe transforms abstract challenges into impactful, actionable solutions. With experience across corporate, nonprofit and government sectors globally, she turns complexity into clarity through data storytelling, focusing on the user experience. As a leader she drives creative excellence, builds high-performing teams and crafts solutions that influence decisions and inspire change.
	Shafeeq Ur Rahaman	Associate Director, Analytics	Shafeeq Ur Rahaman is a data analytics and cloud computing professional with 12+ years of experience in automation, predictive modeling, and digital transformation. He has led high-impact projects for Fortune 500 companies, and has served as a judge for multiple global technology and innovation awards.
	Shangning Wang	Design Project Specialist	Shangning Wang is an award-winning designer based in New York and Dalian, specializing in branding, typography, and social impact design. His work has gained global recognition, been exhibited worldwide, and featured in top platforms and design publications. He also serves as a judge for well-respected and renowned international design competitions.
	Shelly Cheng	Staff Design Engineer, Visa	Shelly Cheng is an award-winning designer and engineer with over eight years of experience in the technology and media industries. As a staff design engineer at Visa, she leads the development of Visa Chart Components (VCC), an open-source, accessibility-focused design system for data visualizations and related data products, serving Visa’s global clients.
	Shriyash Shete	Senior Product Designer	Shriyash is a Senior Product Designer for a leading cybersecurity company, Zscaler. For over a decade, he has been enjoying deep-dives into critical, complex datasets and turning them into simplified, meaningful and delightful visualizations. Recently one of his data visualization was featured in the Wall Street Journal's article as an intuitive and innovative cybersecurity interface.
	Sungduck Lee	Assistant Professor	Sungduck Lee is an assistant professor of graphic design with a background in urban design and urbanism. Her research focuses on issues related to neighborhood vitality and social equity. She directs the Geosocial Visualization Research Laboratory that explores social characteristics of communities, and their relationship to geospatial context.
	Surasti Puri	Head of Design	Surasti is an information designer with 10+ years experience specialising in data-driven storytelling. She transforms complex data into engaging visuals and digital products. Previously she was Head of Design at Small Media Foundation, and has collaborated on projects with the British Library, Thomson Reuters Foundation, and Spotify.
	Tory Lysik	Journalist	Tory Lysik is a data and graphic journalist based out of NYC. She has previously worked for outlets including Axios, Vox and Poynter.
	Veronica Clarin	Information Designer	Information Designer with experience in complex data and information visualisation. With a background in Communication Design from the Politecnico di Milano, I attended the Density Design Lab under the scientific coordination of Professor Paolo Ciuccarelli. Currently part of the The Visual Agency team, working on the production and management of a wide range of projects across different sectors.
	Vinicius Sueiro	Lecturer, University of Miami	Vinicius is a Brazilian designer who uses code to bring ideas to life. As a former lead information designer, his projects usually involve interactive graphics for the web, data-driven storytelling and carefully-crafted visual interfaces. Since 2022, he also teaches design, web development, and data visualization at the University of Miami.
	Viola Bernacchi	Senior designer and data visualiser	Viola Bernacchi is an Italian designer and data visualiser based in The Netherlands. She works at RNDR, a design studio for interactive media, exploring the relation between code and design. She works with an interdisciplinary team on a wide range of projects, from physical exhibitions to generative visual identities, for cultural institutions, and innovative clients worldwide
	Wesley Grubbs	Chief Creative Technologist	Wesley Grubbs, founder of Pitch Interactive, is a renowned data visualization expert. With over 23 years of experience, Grubbs crafts innovative, data-driven visualizations for clients like Google, Scientific American, and UNDP. His work spans economics, politics, science, and social justice, telling compelling stories through meaningful experiences. He is based in Oakland, California.
