The Winner Takes It All by VisualisingKorea

There is a strong belief in South Korea that education is the key to a better future. However, our visualisation of longitudinal survey data reveals that ever since the Asian Financial Crisis income inequalities within various educational level groups, in particular among university graduates, have increased exponentially. This is vividly illustrated by the violin plots in our animated visualization becoming thinner and longer over time. Are we moving towards a winner-takes-all society where higher education will be like hitting the jackpot for some and a ‘booby prize’ for the rest?
