Hepatitis C is Asia’s silent emergency by Kontinentalist
This story was created in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to highlight the Hepatitis C (HCV) health crisis in Asia—with a focus on underrepresented and underprivileged communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Pakistan.
Medical data is normally academic in nature, which makes it difficult for readers to see the real stories of those who are suffering from the virus. We needed to create a story that could potentially start conversations and open pathways for international bodies and regional governments to further commit to its elimination.
Our team used a blend of hard-coded data visualisations, personal anecdotes, and dynamic scrollytelling to not only illustrate the very scale of the problem but also unpack the promising medical innovations that could solve it.
