In the orbit of Richard Buckminster Fuller

For some, Fuller was the Leonardo da Vinci of the 20th century. Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) dedicated his life to finding solutions that ensured the world worked better for everybody. Through his thinking, he anticipated, surprisingly accurately, some of the major crises of the 20th century.
To examine Fuller from the perspective of 2020s reality, Espacio Fundación Telefónica (https://espacio.fundaciontelefonica.com/en/) in Madrid held the exhibition ‘Radical Curiosity. In the Orbit of Buckminster Fuller,’ (https://espacio.fundaciontelefonica.com/en/evento/radical-curiosity-in-the-orbit-of-buckminster-fuller/) shown from November 2020 to March 2021. To promote this exhibition, Prodigioso Volcán designed and developed an interactive timeline (https://espacio.fundaciontelefonica.com/orbita-buckminster-fuller/) in which the influence pioneer artists and architects, both contemporary to him, had on many others. As well as modern artists in the main five disciplines that Fuller worked in.

By dragging the timeline over the years, you will see the different artists influenced by Fuller, and you will be able to access a small card that shows us basic information about them, as well as an external link to their website. Each artist in the timeline is positioned at a certain height determined by the discipline their work falls in. Also, there is a corresponding icon for each field, highlighting the division of the different areas. Finally, we have designed illustrations based on Buckminster Fuller’s known sketches that appear and disappear on the timeline to reinforce the sense of progress.
