Colors of Pride by MiraCosta College
Pride flags are powerful symbols of identity, unity, and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Originating with the rainbow flag created by Gilbert Baker in 1978, these flags have evolved to represent the diversity and intersectionality within the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Over time, variations and new designs have emerged to include specific groups, such as the bisexual, transgender, non-binary, asexual, and genderqueer. The colors of each flag are more than a mere pigment; they are symbolic of love, hope, resilience, and of course, pride. This visualization highlights the most common colors of Pride flags and celebrates their evolution through the years.
