U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Encounter by KCB

This project explores U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Encounter Data, uncovering trends in apprehensions, expulsions, and inadmissibles. Key findings reveal that encounters often peak in spring (March, April, May) or late summer (August, September). From 2020 to 2024, apprehensions surged over sevenfold, while inadmissibles more than quadrupled.

The visualization emphasizes transparency by noting missing data for the expulsion encounter type in the following periods: Fiscal Year 2020 (January, February, October, November, December), Fiscal Year 2023 (June, July, August, September), and Fiscal Year 2024 (all months). Utilizing advanced R visualization tools like ggplot2, the project presents clear, engaging insights to support policymakers, researchers, and public understanding of border-related dynamics.
