The Song of Time by Emirates NBD

The Song of Time delves into how individuals spend their time with different groups—friends, partners, parents and family, coworkers, children, and alone—across ages 15 to 85. The visualization categorizes time spent into three percentile-based groups: less time (<25th percentile), nominal time (25–75th), and most time (>75th).

The design highlights life’s transitions, showing how relationships evolve over time. Time spent alone peaks between 62 and 85, while time with partners also increases with age. In contrast, time with friends, coworkers, and parents diminishes as one progresses through life. The visualization uses trends and age-specific peaks to narrate this journey, emphasizing significant moments, such as time spent with children during middle adulthood.

Inspired by the universal rhythms of life, the visualization captures these changes, providing a reflective and relatable perspective on how we prioritize relationships and adapt our time as we grow older.
